Jungle Aviary
The jungle aviary needs to be renovated.
A new concept is now being developed which, in addition to the constant improvement of animal husbandry according to the latest scientific findings (health, hygiene), will also give the future inhabitants of the aviary access to an outdoor enclosure. As we were able to transfer the Caesarean tamarins as a whole group to Emmen Zoo in the Netherlands, they have already left Bern Animal Park. The transport went smoothly and the group arrived safely.
In the walk-in aviary with tropical plant growth and a primeval forest stream, the very endangered balistares and the smallest cloven-hoofed animal, the lesser cantaxilla, still live together in communal keeping.
